CEO, President & Co-Founder, Arreva
David Blyer is a veteran software technology entrepreneur with a list of firsts. Arreva, which Blyer co-founded in 2017 with his business partner Susan Packard Orr (chairman of the David and Lucille Packard Foundation and daughter of David Packard, founder of Hewlett Packard), is the first software for nonprofits to encompass a completely integrated online fundraising and donor relationship management software program bringing more than 14 siloed programs and services into one software solution. In 1993, he co-founded Vento Software, the first vertical business intelligence applications provider, which was acquired by Chicago-based SPSS in 1999. Following the acquisition, he effectively grew the company’s revenue from $80m to over $220m and acquiring close to 40 companies in just a few short years.
As a cancer survivor at age 26, Blyer always knew at some point in his career he wanted to use his knowledge to give back. That opportunity came in 2010 when sitting with a number of university heads discussing the challenges they faced as fundraisers and how the programs they were using didn’t ‘talk’ to one another. David utilized his knowledge of software to build DonorCommunity—the first online fundraising and event marketing platform sourced through a website/portal with a single database—and streamlined a solution for a common problem faced by nonprofits of all sizes.
David is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is a board member of the Entrepreneurial Council at Nova Southeastern University’ Business School; on the board of Envirostar, a publicly traded company; and an active volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House of South Florida and the Davie Police Athletic League.
